This means of encapsulation entails affixing a board or sheet material to the asbestos and simply painting with domestic paint on completion. Ideally, the board or sheet materials would not be fixed through the asbestos material. However, we will assess the best method for fixing the materials and if this requires screwing through the asbestos material, we will ensure the appropriate control measures are in place to minimise any fibre release and spread of contamination.

This type of coating consists of a liquid encapsulation paint being applied to the asbestos in layers, and it’s suitable for sprayed coatings, insulation, boards and other fibrous forms of asbestos. We use a product called Idenden ET150 to carry out this type of encapsulation.

As well as providing impact resistance, Elastomeric coatings also provide elasticity, especially when incorporating a reinforcing membrane. It’s possible that this type of treatment can provide up to 20 years of life, if applied correctly and left undisturbed.

This type of encapsulant is suitable for encapsulation of various materials such as sprayed coatings, insulation, and boards. We use products such as Incorex and Serpiflex for this type of encapsulation, which has many advantages over other forms, and by following manufacturer’s instructions we can ensure we get the most successful results.
